How Calpe Local publishes
Editorial Policy
This policy explains the standards used when choosing, researching, writing, updating and monetising Calpe Local content.
Last updated: 23 July 2026
01
Editorial purpose
Calpe Local exists to provide practical, readable and locally useful information for visitors, residents and people considering spending more time in Calpe.
The aim is not to make every place sound appealing. Useful coverage should explain who something suits, where it falls short, what it costs in time or effort, and which details matter before a reader makes a decision.
02
Choosing topics
Topics are selected according to reader usefulness, local relevance, search demand, seasonal importance and gaps in existing information.
Commercial potential may help fund the publication, but it does not replace the requirement that a topic be genuinely relevant to Calpe Local readers.
03
Research and sources
Where possible, articles combine local experience with current, attributable sources. Time-sensitive claims may be checked against official authorities, organisers, businesses, published schedules, direct observation or other suitable primary sources.
When reliable sources disagree or information remains uncertain, the article should say so rather than present an assumption as fact.
04
First-hand knowledge and opinion
First-hand experience can add details that official descriptions often miss, such as realistic parking, crowds, access, walking difficulty or whether an activity suits a particular type of visitor.
Opinion should be recognisable as opinion and supported by enough context for readers to judge whether the same conclusion is likely to apply to them.
05
Dates, updates and corrections
Articles may display a publication or updated date. Updates should be meaningful rather than changing the date without reviewing the content.
Minor spelling or formatting corrections may be made without a note. Material factual corrections are handled under the Corrections Policy.
06
Businesses, reviews and conflicts
Businesses may be covered because they are useful or relevant, whether or not they advertise. A paid relationship will be labelled where required.
Businesses do not receive advance approval over independent editorial conclusions. They may be contacted to verify factual matters and may request correction of demonstrably inaccurate information.
07
Sponsored and affiliate content
Sponsored content, featured placements and affiliate links are governed by separate transparency policies. Commercial support must not be presented as independent coverage when it is not.
08
Images and illustrative material
Images should be owned, licensed, supplied with permission or otherwise lawfully used. Where an image is illustrative rather than a photograph of the exact place or event discussed, the context should not mislead the reader.
